Families First Vision and Principles

The following vision and principles have been agreed by the Haringey Families First Partnership Board - these are guiding the work we do to reshape Families First for Haringey.

Our Families First for Children Vision

We put families and children first and believe strong relationships are the intervention that make change possible. We build on the strengths in your family and community to agree the help that works best for you.

Our Families First Principles

  1. Children are at the heart of all we do and your voices matter. You will be heard, believed, and involved in decisions that shape your lives.
  2. Families come first. We’ll work alongside you and your networks, building on strengths and supporting you to find the best solutions for your children and family.
  3. One worker, one team. You’ll have a trusted lead worker who stays with you and brings together the right support, so you don’t have to repeat your story, and we will work as one team across education settings, schools, the NHS, the council, and community partners.
  4. Help earlier, not later. We’ll spot challenges sooner and act quickly so that small problems don’t grow into big ones.
  5. Family-led decisions. We’ll use Family Group Decision Making so you as families can shape your own plans with the people who matter most to you.
  6. Clear and respectful communication. We’ll speak plainly, share information openly, and build trust through honesty and respect.
  7. Support that fits. Every family is different. We’ll tailor support to your culture, strengths, and needs — shaped around what works for you.
